Community Outreach Coordinator

The role spearheads extensive engagement efforts with the community of Sefrou Medina, supporting the development of an open-air museum project. Principally (but not limited to), this role involves conducting thorough preliminary outreach, fostering meaningful connections, and mobilizing community involvement to ensure the project reflects the authentic voice and spirit of Sefrou’s residents.

Jessica Stephens, culture coordinator and visual artist, has lived and worked in Sefrou since 2007. With extensive experience in cross-cultural facilitation, along with her conviction for art as a tool for development, Jess is a driving force for SAMAs vision and mission. Her proven track record in organizational development and community empowerment brings a unique blend of strategic insight and hands-on engagement to her role.

Stand-In Director

SAMA is currently seeking to recruit an influential arts and culture development Director, to support creativity and organizational convergence. Leading and coordinating a small but powerful grassroots program, the individual will collaborate with local community members, national stakeholders and international visitors, contributing to our meaningful cause.

This 12-month position is an employed role proposed to commence in December of 2024. For more information click HERE

ACTIVE COMMUNITY MEMBERS

The association’s internship program offers local youth a transformative opportunity to gain cultural management experience, develop valuable skills, and cultivate meaningful connections, empowering them to thrive in their future endeavors and inspiring them to shape Sefrous future.

Leading up to and during projects SAMA engages local community members and partners with Sefrouian and regional associations.

THE BOARD

President

Dr. Sadik Rddad is a founding member of the Moroccan Cultural Studies Center, Fez Morocco and co-editor of the Moroccan Cultural Studies Journal. Skilled in translation, lecturing, and editing, published author and freelance writer. Dr Rddad is a senior professor at USMBA (Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University) and was a Fulbright scholar at Northwestern University, USA.

Treasurer

Catherine Bellafronto, business owner and founder of the association behind the Fez Medina Children’s Library. With a background in law and international development and resident of Fez, Catherine brings expertise in social impact, business, and international finances, making her an ideal fit for the role of SAMAs treasurer.

Secretary

Anouar Charifi is an active community member and founder of Association MASQ for Theater and Cultural Development in Sefrou. Competent in association creation, civic society, and social entrepreneurship, with a degree in law and a seat in the Council’s Cultural Department of Sefrou, Anouar makes a vital contribution as SAMAs secretary.
